I have decided to upgrade the irc network service to fully work with Tor.

While the network was already configured to allow regular Tor irc client connections; now you can also access irc.freethinker.ws via Tor hidden service.

The current Tor hidden service address for irc.freethinker.ws is v4p6jgkmio6v54j6.onion

If your IRC client can handle socks5 with remote dns, you can just connect to the .onion address directly. Otherwise, use Tor's "mapaddress" feature to fake it.

(freethinker.ws does not recommend
that you use privoxy with irssi. It's unnecessary. Just use the 'mapaddress' approach and torify irssi to start it up.)

Add a line to your torrc, as in this example:

mapaddress "ip" v4p6jgkmio6v54j6.onion

dig +short irc.tor.freethinker.ws

irc://252jfhqv2lhapom4.onion/6667 ( port 6667 only 1 connection per ip)
irc://252jfhqv2lhapom4.onion/6697 ( port 6697 5 connections per ip )
